Hiswa, one of the biggest dutch boat shows is coming up. The expo is not as big as BOOT Dusseldorf but you can still find a lot of boats and water sports related stands.

There is one major difference with BOOT, there are almost no windsurfing exhibitors. As a windsurfer I wouldn’t advice you to go there, only if you interested in boats, looking for tips on boat maintenance, rigging tips, navigational equipment or other related topics.

André Paskowski gives his take on BOOT in this short video. He will show you what you can do at the expo. It seems that there are more windsurfing stands than last year. Also great remark on 1.39 .

I didn’t go this year because I was not very enthusiastic about BOOT 2009 & 2008 . What are your thoughts on boot 2010? Please leave your reaction.

Next week is BOOT 2010. This big expo is all about water sports and everything that is associated with water sports. Windsurfing and kite surfing will also be represented.

Last year I visited BOOT and was not that enthusiastic. I wrote that the expo is only meaningful if you are going to buy windsurfing equipment or if you are interested in other parts of BOOT besides windsurfing and kite surfing.

Maybe this year will be different. a BOOT Surf Party will be organized after the expo. Sounds like a lot of fun .

Here is some practical tips and information:

• Boot 2010 will be held for 23 t/m 31 of January and is opened from 10 am until 6 pm.
• You can go to Düsseldorf bij car. Here is a description of the expo hall.
• A ticket will cost you 15 euros, for kids and students (bring your student card!) it will cost 10 euros. It’s free for kids below 6 years old.
• Here you see the list with al the standholders related to windsurfing and kite surfing.
• Pick up a free ticket for the BOOT Surf Party at the stand from the German Surf Magazine.

Yesterday I visited Boot 2009 in Dusseldorf, one of the biggest water sports fairs in Europe. Like I said last week, Boot was always the place to be for Windsurf news, checking new windsurfing equipment but also to buy windsurfing equipment. The last few years the fair really diminished (at least with windsurfing stuff). Also this edition of Boot 2009.

I arrived at Boot 2009 after an one and a half hour drive. At the fair is everything really well managed. You will be directed to your parking space (which costs 6 euro). After which you can hop on an a bus (free) which drives you to the entrance of Boot 2009. Quickly I bought an entrance ticket (15 euro) and on to the windsurfing exposition! This time you can find all the windsurf stuff in hall 1 and 2.

In hall 1 are a hand full of wind-, kite- ans surf trip expositors. After collecting some brochures you can leave hall 1 again. Simply because this hall is hardly filled with windsurfing. About 60% is not windsurf related.

Hall 2 is what you expect from Boot 2009. Filled with stands from shop owners offering all kinds of windsurfing equipment. Not all expositors are windsurf related. Other trend sports like wake boarding, ice surfing and kite surfing are also represented. Don’t expect stands from Big Brands like Neilpryde or North Sails. The return on investment is probably not big enough for these brand to be on Boot 2009. For most it is a big windsurf market.

The prices for the windsurfing equipment is not bad but also not super cheap. You can also get these prices by watching the offers at your local windsurf shop. Don;t expect big shows from the big brands because they are not at Boot. Then it’s certainly worth the trip, especially if you like more then windsurfing alone. Boot 2009 really excels in other water sports.

One of the biggest water sports fairs is next week! Boot 2009 will be taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany between 17 January and 25 January 2009. A few years ago it was also the place to be to get your new material for low prices, but things have changed. The possibility of a bargain is still there but you have to search for it.
